My pancakes were a disaster and I had no idea why!
I recently bought a set of 4 measuring cups that were on sale and just too cute to pass up! I used them to prepare my g/f pancake batter for one of our youtube videos! I was so frustrated when my pancakes were a disaster! (Needless to say, there’s not video YET!) I’ve made these pancakes countless times before, so had no idea what happened!
A couple of days later I was prepping for the video, “Connie’s Rich & Fudgy Brownies. G/F“. For some reason, I felt the need to check the accuracy of these new measuring cups. Thank goodness I did this before starting the brownie prep! I tested the new cups with my 46 year old & accurate cups. I was shocked to see that each cup was off by a significant amount!! Not just a smidge, but enough to ruin a recipe!
For example, the 1 cup measurement actually measured 1 1/4 cups. When baking, this is a disaster waiting to happen. I returned them to the store and explained the problem. I thought for sure they would immediately take the rest of the cups from the display and no longer sell the cute, but inaccurate cups. But NO!!! They put the ones I returned back on the shelf and gave me a store credit!
So, the lesson in all this is…
Don’t assume kitchen measuring tools (as cute as they may be) are always accurate. Test them BEFORE making your recipe. You’ll be glad you did. No one wants to eat awful pancakes, LOL!
