Bread Maker Extraordinaire
When I asked Billy if he would make a video with me for Connie’s Truffle House, he was stepping out of his comfort zone when he said, “Sure, Mama”!
That’s just one of the many things I love about Billy!
He’s not afraid to try new things. I could share many examples with you in this blog post, but I know if / when he reads it, he’ll wish I hadn’t. Sorry, I can’t help myself.
At the age of 13, Billy asked Bill and me if he could take flying lessons. He’d been saving up his allowance, birthday money & odd jobs and said he could pay for them. So, he did! He got his pilot’s license before he drove a car.
I hope you notice the beautiful cutting board we used in the video. Billy made it! He’s always loved woodworking, but it has gone to the next level. If he doesn’t know how to do something, guess what?!?!? He checks out YouTube videos! I love that.
I’ll skip over the other examples of my son, the Renaissance Man, and end with the phone call to Bill & me when he was 27. He decided he would become a doctor. So, after receiving an undergrad degree in MIS, he went back to school for the required courses and entered Medical School at the age of 28. Now, he’s an anesthesiologist and I hear he is awesome at putting people to sleep AND waking them up.
You can imagine the gift he gave me when he said “YES” to being in a CTH video. Just like other hobbies in his life, he learned how to make bread by asking questions, reading books, watching videos and simply baking bread!
I learn from Billy every single day! We’re so proud of you, Dr. Billy. Thank you for being an example to your Mama, and reminding me that it’s never to late to try something new.
Who would have thought I would have a YouTube channel and a blog at my age?
Love y’all!

December 24, 2018 at 6:47 pmI just love reading all of the blog posts and seeing the amazing videos!! I particularly love seeing the old pictures of all the Nelsons (homemade macrame?! Car wreck? Who knew?!). You all are such a fun and good-to-the-core family. We love you! Also, I think you two need to collaborate on a cookbook!
