DIRECTIONS TO SAUTEE APPLES:
- Preheat oven to 350
- Peel & cube 2 Granny Smith apples (approx 4 cups)
- Melt 2 tbsps. unsalted butter
- Add apples and stir
- Add 2 tbsps. brown sugar
- Add 1 tsp. cinnamon
HOW TO MAKE IT:
- Butter 11- inch baking dish
- Layer cubed apples on bottom of dish
- Combine dry ingredients in a bowl; stir to mix
- Whisk eggs in another bowl & add rest of wet ingredients, except butter
- Add milk mixture to oats; stir in butter
- Pour the mixture over the cubed apples
- Add more chopped pecans to the top of the mixture, optional
- Bake at 350 for approx 35-40 minutes until the oatmeal is set and golden brown.
- Let set a couple of minutes. Serve with a drizzle of warm maple syrup, of course, this is optional, but highly recommended!
- Just a reminder, this is not your low cal oatmeal, but you can certainly substitute ingredients. Fat free milk, honey, agave, etc.
